Cilegon, February 5, 2026 — Lautan Air Indonesia (LAI) held the WaterCare Forum: Petrochemical Edition, an industry forum specifically designed to address the challenges and solutions of water management in the petrochemical sector. This event marks the inaugural edition of the WaterCare Forum and was attended by practitioners and key industry stakeholders from the Cilegon industrial area in Banten.
The WaterCare Forum is designed as a collaborative platform to address the industry’s growing need for more complex water management. In the petrochemical sector, water management is not only about meeting environmental quality standards but also involves operational efficiency, system reliability, and the industry’s readiness to meet evolving regulations and environmental monitoring requirements.
This forum is needed in response to the increasing complexity of water management in the petrochemical industry, where operational challenges, efficiency demands, and environmental compliance obligations are becoming more interconnected. In practice, many industries face a lack of technical and applicative discussion spaces to explore end-to-end water management. The WaterCare Forum is presented as a dialogue platform that bridges industry needs with relevant technologies and best practices aligned with real field conditions.
“Today’s water management challenges in the petrochemical industry are no longer just about meeting quality standards, but also about ensuring that water systems operate efficiently, reliably, and in alignment with increasingly dynamic regulatory demands. Through the WaterCare Forum, we aim to encourage more open and relevant discussions where industry players can share real challenges and explore practical, applicable solutions,” said Bagus Danarto, Chief Commercial Officer of Lautan Air Indonesia.
As its first edition, the WaterCare Forum focuses specifically on the petrochemical industry, considering its production processes that rely heavily on water systems that are stable, efficient, and compliant with regulations. This forum serves as a space to discuss how water management technologies can directly enhance operational performance while supporting sustainable environmental compliance.
In the WaterCare Forum: Petrochemical Edition, the theme raised was “Integrated Water Technology for Petrochemical Efficiency & Compliance.” Discussions centered on various strategic topics, including the use of digital-based environmental monitoring and reporting systems, the application of water treatment technologies to support industrial water reuse, wastewater management with high pollutant loads, and the integration of monitoring systems to improve operational reliability and environmental compliance.
The forum featured technical sessions and applicative discussions based on real field practices. Speakers and panelists examined operational experiences, technical challenges, and technological approaches that can be adopted by the petrochemical industry to enhance water-use efficiency and reduce operational risks.
The WaterCare Forum was organized in collaboration with various technology partners and supported by relevant industry associations. This collaborative approach reflects the industry’s need for water management solutions that are not standalone, but integrated—combining treatment systems, monitoring, data, and environmental compliance.
Cilegon was chosen as the host location due to its role as one of Indonesia’s key petrochemical industrial hubs. The concentration of industries with complex water management needs makes the area a relevant starting point for launching the WaterCare Forum.
Going forward, the WaterCare Forum is planned to be developed into a long-term platform that will expand to reach other industrial sectors. Through this forum, LAI hopes to encourage knowledge exchange, cross-industry learning, and sustained collaboration to support more efficient, compliant, and sustainable industrial water management across Indonesia.
